The Federal Ministry of Health (BMG) is due to approve the recommendation. This is the usual way for a vaccination to be accepted as a statutory benefit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shingles vaccine should be applied to patients above 60 years of age and those with increased health risks beyond the age of 50. It prevents severe progression of herpes zoster and postherpetic neuralgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently the vaccination consists of two Shingrix doses, applicable in two months intervall and available as a private service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We will inform due to course as soon as the benefit is approved officially by the BMG.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Robert-Koch-Institute and the Federal Joint Committee (G-BA) have recommended the reimbursment of shingles vaccine as a benefit of the statutory health insurance.
